An accurate description of Kailua would be quaint, sunny, and seaside. The warm beach town offers residents a vast selection of activities that include kayaking and windsurfing at the Kailua Beach Park and shopping and eating at shopping centers and restaurants located inside of the neighborhood. Other activities can be accessed through the neighborhood's features of fitness centers, Castle Hospital, churches, and both private and public schools. Most homes built in this area are built alongside waterways. Homes built on waterways have frequented locations such as the Kawainui Canal, Lanikai, North Kalaheo Avenue, and Kaelepulu Pond. Surrounding Kailua are several condominiums and town homes, a couple of those properties border the tranquil conservation area that is Kaelepulu Stream. The Bluffs is quite possibly the newest feature to make an appearance to the area. Residents of Kailua can take a simple 30-minute drive down Pail Highway to travel to downtown Honolulu.
