The Leeward Region is typically home to military personnel and civilians alike due to its relatively short commute from the communities within the region to the jobs they hold at the Pearl Harbor Naval Base, the Hickam Air Force Base, and Camp Smith. On the site of most of these bases, military housing is generally available. Within proximity of the Leeward Region are clubs and Navy/Marine golf courses meant and established for the pleasure of enlisted officers, men, and the families of those enlisted offices and men in the army. Both active militia and retired militia are allowed to use the clubs and courses.
